Synod, from the Greek σúνοδος "the same path". They believe that this word perfectly sums up the union of three viticulturist and oenologist friends. The Wine Synod is made up of Roberto, Juan Antonio and Gorka, three oenologists and viticulturists from Rioja who in 2014 decided to start a small project parallel to their main activity in other companies in the sector. The friendship relationship comes from knowing each other and studying together the Degree in Oenology at the University of La Rioja, and even then they dream of being able to make their own wines together.
Their goal is to produce unique wines from their families' vineyards with the utmost respect for their terroir and the concept of the harvester and his traditional winery. To do this, they want to personally pamper the grapes and be fully in contact with the process in the winery, from the harvest to the marketing of the wine, something that is complicated on larger scales.
They firmly believe that this is the way to produce wines of the highest quality, as well as a way to value the old vineyards and traditional Rioja wineries, a unique heritage that we cannot allow to disappear.

From that depth, it presents a horizon of carbonate accumulation greater than 40% and active limestone of 15%. Regarding the plantation frame, it is a real frame of 1.70 x 1.70 meters. While around them sadly they saw how the old vines were being uprooted, given the unproductive nature of this area of Villamediana de Iregua, the Etxebarria family opted for this vineyard planted in 1982. It is characterized by its low yield, a soil poor in organic matter and abundant boulder that provides good drainage. The location in a loft provides perfect exposure and good ventilation, which is a guarantee of health and maturation. The surface horizon of the soil is about 60 cm thick and the texture is sandy loam. OTHER VINEYARDS Their families also own other vineyards in the municipalities of Villamediana, Uruñuela, Cenicero and Sotés.
