Is a family winery that has been producing wines since 2006. However, our tradition as winegrowers dates back to twenty years ago that date, growing and selling our grapes to other wineries in the Apellation Valle de La Orotava.
Geographically the winery in the north of the island of Tenerife, in Valle de La Orotava, a valley within the town of the same name.
Without losing sight of the respect for tradition, cornerstone of their winery philosophy, in Suertes del Marqués they artificially interfere as little as possible in the production of their wines, so we work with indigenous yeasts, avoid racking and using only minimal amounts of sulfur in the bottling of our wines.
All processes in the cellar are carried out by hand, from works in the vineyard to harvest. They avoid any systemic treatments in the vineyard, using only natural products when vine diseases eventually arise.
The cellar is equipped with different volumes uncoated concrete tanks in which we carry out the fermentation of their wines, and for certain plots their refinement.
The aging of their wines is carried out in small french oak foudres of 500 liters volume hadcrafted by Burgundy coopers.
Wineyard
The property is formed by 11 hectares of vineyards ranging from 300 to 750 metres above sea level, all of them with different orientations and soil composition. Moreover, Suertes del Marqués works another 15 hectares with vine growers of the area with vineyards with altitudes between 250-800 meters.
Grapes
Since 2006 in this small family winery they have opted for the use of native varieties and traditional vine training methods. In order to preserve a viticulture and wine-making heritage that dates back five centuries old, they work only with growers from Valle de La Orotava.
Centenary ungrafted vine stocks of black and white listan grapes compose most of their vineyards. Growned in “cordon multiple”, unique in the world training method, listan grapes coexist with other native varieties from young and old vines like Vijariego Negro, Baboso Negro, Tintilla, Pedro Ximénez or Albillo Criollo , growned in telegraph and cordon trenzado.
