CASTRO VENTOSA

It is difficult to locate the beginnings of the family, in the cultivation of the vine, but already in 1752 it appears as viticulturists in Valtuille and making wine from some plots in which their grapes are part of the wines of the winery.

Most current in the formation of Castro Ventosa as an institutional name that the current generation would adopt, succeeding the previous Brothers of Rosaura López Fuente, their grandmother, and that reflected a change in style without changing their philosophy.

Currently, Castro Ventosa reflects the most traditional spirit of winemaking in harmony with the experience inherited generation after generation, and only the cultivation of its own land guarantees its personality when it comes to making its wines.

Vineyard

The vineyard is located on the hills of the town of Valtuille de Abajo, there are about 300 plots settled on different soils and different orientations, thus guaranteeing the organoleptic diversity of our wines.

The circular cellar built in concrete and settled underground, is the frame that does not preserve the conditions required for the stay of barrels and wines.

Elaboration

The production of High Quality wine begins in the vineyard itself where, with extreme care, the essential conditions must be met for the entire cycle to culminate successfully.

Monitoring a plantation foot is crucial for choosing the right time to harvest with the grapes at their optimal ripeness point. This must be picked by hand, cluster by cluster, ruling out any defects.

In the life of the Winery this is the period of greatest and intense work with sunrises and sunsets in the vineyard and torrid heat in full sun, but when the harvest comes to an end it is a time of tranquility, the risks of the capricious having been overcome weather changes that can ruin a whole year of work.

Team

Currently, four generations live together whose ancestors already cultivated the vineyard and made wine in Valtuille de Abajo.

A special mention is given to the human team that makes up the winery and that constitutes a second family without which none of what we have achieved would have been possible.
