Verónica Ortega

A long paths in some of the best wineries of the world endorse Verónica Ortega and his new project, develop unique wines in the Bierzo.

After working in DO Priorat with Daphne Glorian (Clos Erasmus) and Álvaro Palacios and spend a few years working in France, in Borgoña (in Domaine de la Romanee Conti and Comte Armand) and Valle del Ródano,  Domaine Combier, she returned to Spain to create their own project, in the Bierzo.

She begins her firts experience in 2010, but it was in 2012 when she decided to make her own winery.

Its wines are made by hand, with spontaneous fermentation, and low levels of sulphur. Like vineyard, it is hand worked in Organic farming.

Location

Is located in the northeast of Spain, the Bierzo DO has an old wine tradition, and the very interesting meeting both by location with strong Atlantic influence, and the authenticity of their wines.

Grapes

The Queen of the varieties in Bierzo is Mencía, variety native found mixed in the vineyard old vine with a very small proportion of other local, both white and red varieties, from Alicante Bouchet, Merençao, Sherry or Doña Blanca.
