BODEGAS CONVENTO DE SAN FRANCISCO

Convento de San Francisco

Convento San Francisco Winery was founded in 1998, settling on the remains of the old Franciscan Convent, dated 1265, in the town of Peñafiel, Valladolid.

They produce with the utmost respect for the large wine area where they are located, the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, where their native variety, Tempranillo, reaches its great expressiveness due to the great diversity of climates, soils and location of the vineyards.

Vineyard

11 hectares certified in Organic Agriculture, in the municipality of Pesquera de Duero divided into 3 plots with different soils and altitude. And another 2 hectares in Fuentenebro planted in 1920 and 1940 at 970 meters above sea level, on a terrace, on sand and reddish clay soils with moor stones and quartz.

They control another 25 hectares together with trusted winegrowers, where much of it is very old vineyards made up of small plots located on slopes and moors in clay, sand and limestone soils.

The extreme climate of the area forces them, each harvest, to interpret the vintage. Always under sustainable viticulture, respecting the land and the plants, to achieve the maximum potential of the grapes.
