With the same philosophy of "Vino de Pago" in Bodegas Fernandez de Pierola, they wanted to transfer the experience to other wine areas most renowned of our geography, the Ribera del Duero, giving life to Traslascuestas.
Bodegas Fernandez de Pierola, in its commitment to sustainable development, has conceived in Bodegas Traslascuestas an eco-efficient building and respectful with the environment, that manages to reach 100% of their thermal requirements thanks to geothermal energy, stood as the pioneer in its application in the Denominación de Origen Ribera de Duero.
The philosophy of Traslascuestas is the development of high quality wines, with a profile of tasting where you can appreciate a very unique features, whereas the vineyard a determining factor in the quality, without forgetting the winemaking technique, to get powerful well structured wines, with body, where they are assembled and balanced aromas derived from the Tempranillo with those developed in a good and patient parenting, for complex, intense and elegant wines.
Location
Between the towns of Pedrosa de Duero and Roa, where the best vineyards of the Ribera del Duero is located.
Climate
The Ribera del Duero enjoys a continental climate Atlantic, dry, and windy, with winters very hard, long and cold, and short, dry and hot summers. There are long periods of persistent and frequent frosts that begin in October and end in May with little snowfall.
Environment
Geothermal energy arises as an alternative energy source renewable, efficient and clean, allowing its use both in the air conditioning of the rooms (barrel cellar, bottle maturation, sudden area...), as in the thermal control of the production process, taking advantage of the synergies produced among them to achieve a global improvement of the energy performance of the building of environment to 65%, as well as a reduction of CO2 emissions of 70% compared to a conventional facility.
Vineyard
The specific climatic conditions that characterize the cultivation of the vine in Traslascuestas Wineries, have a great influence throughout the vegetative cycle of the vines, playing a key role in the development of the plant and the ripening of the grapes. Of these special conditions depends largely on the quality of the obtained wines.
