Bodegas y Viñedos Tábula was created in 2002 with the financial backing of a group of entrepreneurs coming from diverse sectors in the Castilla y Leon region. Its creator was José Luis Muñoz, a Valladolid entrepreneur who has been at the winery’s helm since the very beginning of the project.
Well before its foundation, the philosophy and aims of the winery were already clearly set out. The first priority was to find a premium vineyard site. This resulted in today’s 22 hectare (55 acre) estate situated between Olivares and Valbuena de Duero, in Valladolid province. It was the cornerstone of the project, and the cellars were subsequently built on this estate.
What sets our winery apart is the careful respect we pay to the fruit and our constant aim to bring out the terroir in our wines. It was logical that when José Luis Muñoz and our winemaker, Aurora García took the first steps in the project they focused their efforts on vineyard location and vines, whilst scanning the length and breadth of the Ribera del Duero to select the best grapes to buy-in.
In addition to the 22 hectare estate in Olivares, Bodegas Tábula then acquired a 2 hectare (5 acre) vineyard called La Morejona in 2010, which was made up of vines of over 60 years old. To complete the production a further 20 hectares (50 acres) of vines are contracted and supervised by the winery to supply the grapes for the rest of the production.
Located
Bodegas y Viñedos Tábula is located in Olivares del Duero, the winery has 24 hectares (60 acres) of vines, that offer all the natural and technical requirements for the production of high quality, modern-style wines with a good expression of the vineyard.
Vineyard
The Tábula wine-making team is present not just during the different stages of the vinification, but also in the vineyard, carefully monitoring the vines that grow in the limestone soils of our 22-hectare estate in Olivares del Duero, between Valladolid and Peñafiel, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation.
