Its name pays homage to its place of origin: Peñafiel, it was born in 2001 as the fruit of the wine-growing passion of some lovers of this land located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero.
The centennial tradition of PINNA FIDELIS within the Ribera del Duero wines, inherited from parents to children and marked by the character of the Tinta del País variety, thus found a new way to bring the consumer closer to excellent quality wines with a production Innovative of young wines, oak trees and crianza wines capable of satisfying the most demanding palates.
The know-how, which extends over more than 15 vintages, is born from the same human team that has accompanied us since its inception, which is a solid foundation on which they continue to grow and improve day by day. Along with modern facilities for both winemaking and wine tourism and a production philosophy based on simplicity. These are the ingredients of the success of Pinna Fidelis.
Vineyard
The vineyard is mainly located in a narrow strip from east to west, about 5 or 6 km wide perpendicular to the Duero River and covering about 15 km in length from north to south.
Therefore, there are vineyards in the moorlands of the south of the Duero, in the area of Fompedraza and Canalejas, and in lower areas, on the slopes that lead to Peñafiel. Towards the north, the vineyards are located in low areas, near the Duero, in Peñafiel, Pesquera and Bocos; and continue north, on the slopes of Pesquera, Piñel de Abajo and in the extreme north, Piñel de Arriba.
The vineyards of Páramo, Ladera and Vega close to the Duero, allow to obtain grapes with different characteristics, which in turn provide unique properties to young wines, oak trees and crianza.
The general characteristic of all vineyards is that they are located on poor soils, that is, with very little organic matter, and high limestone content, which makes it difficult to produce other crops. The vine subsists thanks to a good rooting, since the soil allows it, and allows the subsistence of the plant, even in years of severe drought.
Soils
The lands in general have very limited the possibility of irrigation; most of the vineyards are, therefore, rainfed.
