Bodegas Vilano was founded in 1957 by the grandparents and parents of the current partners, who contributed hundred-year-old vines in pursuit of an illusion. The initial capacity of the warehouse was 300,000 kilos and it admitted 2.6 million.
Immersed since its inception in a process of continuous improvement, it is currently an expanding project, with a great vocation for the future, but based on effort, work, and above all knowledge and passion for grapes, wine and the Ribera of the Douro. When the grapes are ready to be picked and the weather permits it is heard in Pedrosa de Duero: "the winery has already opened". And the "blessed madness" begins.
The selection of the bunches is done in the same field. By experience. We are talking about viticulturists who are now the third or fourth generation and continue to recognize the grapes by hand as before. Vilano is the flavor of the land, of the most select grapes; the fruit of the incessant search for excellence.
The winery mixes the latest technological techniques and transformative ideas with tradition to create unique wines that are surprising internationally. With its more than 250 hectares of vineyards in Pedrosa del Duero (Burgos), of the "Tinta Fina" or "Tinta del País" (Tempranillo) variety, it has an annual production of 1.4 million kilos of high-quality grapes.
The origin of the Vilano wineries is also related to that of Ribera del Duero. Born thirty years before the creation of the denomination in 1982, the winery, applying traditional viticulture techniques, collecting family vineyards from the early 20th century, produced its first Viña Vilano, with the intention of leaving its mark.
