In the town of Etxebarri, a small town now absorbed by the Biscayan capital, Ramón Bilbao Murga was born in 1876, thus beginning the journey of his life and his own history.
Ramón's family was not poor, but neither was it wealthy. In those years, the majority of the population in Etxebarri dedicated itself to fishing, although signs of a certain prosperity were already visible with the expansion of the steel industry.
Ramón Bilbao's philosophy focused on making great wines that show the "terroir", the expression of DOCa Rioja is hidden in each wine, under an integrated viticulture.
In Rioja they have 205 ha of their own vineyards that are over 40 years old. They are located in unique places around the D.O.Ca. and stand out for their altitude and proximity to the slopes of the mountains.
In DO Rueda, a unique spot at an altitude of 770 m, is Finca Las Amedias, 60 hectares of vineyards where the Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc varieties are grown.
