Viticulture: | The varieties come from our historic vineyards with more than 40 years old, artisanal viticulture and a unique climate. |
Bodegas Luzón is one of the main producers and exporters of quality wines of the D.O. Jumilla, and one of its most historic wineries, producing wine since the end of the 19th century.
The Jumilla wine-growing area is located in southeastern Spain, north of the Murcia region. The climate is continental, influenced by the nearby Mediterranean Sea with warm days, rains that do not reach 300 liters per square meter, and cool nights.
The result is a harsh climate, which gives rise to a soil with a coarse texture with abundant limestone and which allows obtaining small bunches, with a good concentration of sugar, excellent acidity and thicker skins.
A good wine does not begin in the winery, but in the vine, in the viticulture and its care. At Bodegas Luzón we manage 1,200 hectares of vineyards, both owned and managed by farmers.
The main variety that you can find in our vineyards is, of course, the Monastrell, a grape so characteristic of our Region and that serves as the basis for many of our wines. It is a variety with a strong character that usually results in wines with a remarkable graduation.
Other varieties are Garnacha Tintorera, a grape widely planted both in our area and in Alicante; Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot for the red varieties, and Macabeo (or Viura) and Chardonnay for the white ones.
The collection, depending on the type of wine to be made and the area, can be done either in plastic boxes with a capacity of 10 and 15 kilos, to preserve the integrity of the grape, or in 300-kilos pallets. , or trailers.
The wines of Bodegas Luzón are the result of the variety, soil, climate, vinification and well-harmonized aging in order to obtain the personal character that the environment of the land transmits. Fineness and power well combined.
