The journalist Víctor de la Serna, with the fundamental collaboration in the vineyard and winery of winemaker Rafael Orozco, gives life to Finca Sandoval in 1998 (with the plantation of the vineyards themselves, 11.5 ha of syrah and small experimental plantation of national touriga, the great Portuguese caste). Since then they have been acquiring control over old plots of the best traditional castes - bobal, monastrell, garnacha tinta, garnacha tintorera and moravia sour.
In the Ledaña winery, they traditionally elaborate red wines (six dry, one sweet) aged in oak: initial cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, small open deposits that allow to work with punching and vinification (and then rearing) separated each plot, soft pressed in screw press, native yeasts, malolactic in barrel, classic aging with several racking, minimal addition of sulfur at the time of bottling, without filtering or clarifying.
They are founding members of the association Grandes Pagos de España.

One of our wines was selected for another book, 1001 wines to try before dying, by Neil Beckett and Juan Manuel Bellver (Grijalbo, Barcelona, 2009). Robert Parker has given a wine from Finca Sandoval, the Cuvée TNS 2004, the highest rating (96 points) granted by him to an unfortified wine from the southern half of Spain. The Wine Advocate has rated all Finca Sandoval wines since the first vintage, over 90 points, in 2001.
