BODEGAS CUNQUEIRO

CUNQUIERO WINERIES

Bodegas Cunqueiro has been creating great wines for almost a century. Its history begins in the 1920s, making wines in a traditional way to supply numerous taverns and since then they have been maturing and growing day by day with their people, land and culture to achieve what they are today.

A family winery that has been writing its own history for 3 generations and that through dedication, care and the wise combination and selection of native varieties, have managed to produce wines of remarkable quality, different and with a marked personality that are achieving important awards in recent years.

Vineyard

Plot by plot, with care and affection we work around 10 hectares of vineyards, where we grow the main native Ribeiro varieties: Treixadura, Godello, Torrontés, Albariño and Loureira in whites and Mencía, Sousón, Brancellao, Caíño and Ferrol in reds.

The vineyards are located between 125 and 400 meters above sea level, with different types of soils: sandy, clay-loam, slate and skistic. The vast majority of them with high acidity and low fertility, reasons for which moderate grape yields are obtained. The average age of the vines is 45 years, trellised and using stick pruning (traditional Ribeiro pruning system), with a load per plant of between 6 and 8 buds.

All these characteristics, together with the microclimatic variability of each of the plots, provide the grapes we produce with a high richness of nuances that will later be reflected in their wines.
