It is a winery of considerable production (more than half a million bottles a year), which cultivates a hundred hectares of its own vineyard, and yet has always been characterized by the search for quality.
This winery has led the movement for the recovery of the classification of the vineyards according to the Burgundian model of 'Grand cru' and '1st cru' to the point of having abandoned the classification according to the pradikat, a scale that classifies wines according to the degree of sugar that the grapes have when harvested (from the lightest Kabinett, the Spätlese, to the most powerful Auslese ...) in favor of the name of the payments.
The winery is located in an impressive palace belonging to the family that founded it in the year 1597, represented at present by Bettinna Bürklin and her husband Christian von Gurazde.
Being respect for the environment one of the pillars of the philosophy of the house, in the 70s and began to be interested in organic farming until they discover Nicolas Joly and his "Bible" of biodynamics. In the year 2000 they start to implement their practices in the 8 hectares that they own in the village of Ruppersberger and little by little they are implanting them in all their vineyards obtaining the Biodynamic Certification in 2008.
